As we swap out our summer clothes for warmer wear, here on the South shore (and like many other places, no doubt, where you blink your eyes and it's summer again for a minute) we think twice before we pack away the tank tops and sleeveless dresses. They can do double duty in these in between days where we're not quite sure if we're going to be having a crisp fall day or a gloriously warm Indian summer day.

I chose to wear a lined flirty floral chiffon skirt with a simple maroon tank. Alone with sandals or wedges, this would have been a cute summer outfit.
But -- add a comfy mauve cardigan, seasonal tights, and military boots, this becomes an adorable addition to my fall wardrobe! I never considered myself to have a specific style or "look" before, but it's a really good feeling when you can say that you've found yourself via fashion. Some days I'll be just a jeans, thermal, and plaid button up girl, and other days I'll totally sport electric blue patterned plaid tights (yes, I own them, and yes, I'm still trying to find the perfect balance of color to actually wear them with), a cute skirt, and a turtleneck sweater. The common theme is always boots; always once September comes around, and I always make sure that what I'm wearing makes
me feel confident -- even if I'm the only one walking into class clicking around in Oxfords, and pinstripe miniskirt, and scoop neck sweater. Every day is a fashion adventure, and that's exactly how it should be: exciting, new, and fun. Whether it's a transition outfit, a dead heat of summer outfit, a freezing tundra of winter outfit, make sure that it does the trick weather-wise, that it screams you, and screams it loud. And that's how I find my "looks". This is one of the many!

I'm not going to lie, I initially wasn't sure about this cardigan. The color didn't really seem very "me", but as soon as I put it on, I knew I'd grow to love it. So, so soft, and the color is just neutral enough to pair with something a bit crazy: like combat boots and a floral skirt. |

My official "yay, Fall is finally here!" shot :) |

I love the flare of this skirt, and the simple black and white floral with the navy blue of the lining is just enough to add interest to the outfit as a whole. |

These are my pride and joy, and after almost a year of searching I finally found them -- Steve Madden Military Boots. Retail they're about $98, guess how much I scored them for? $9.99. I'm awful at math, but that's way -- way-- over a 50% savings. Thrifting rocks my socks…or in this case, my boots! *snarky laughter* |

I chose to wear my newest end of season Cynthia Rowley floral sleeveless dress. For warmer weather, I would go with floral wedges or platforms in a similar pattern, a light summer-weight bag, and no sweater. But...throw on a black cashmere sweater, raspberry tights and Dolce Vita heeled booties, with my favorite Aldo bag, and I'm ready for a cooler fall day!
Since I work from home. let's face it, I could conceivably work in my jambes (and once actually did on a bitterly cold winter day). My normal work attire for fall is jeans and a long sleeve shirt or sweater. So when the weekend comes, I sometimes feel a need to find my fashion self now and then, so out come the warmer, autumn-worthy skirts, tights and leggings. And, like Katie, boots or booties are a must!

Just hangin' out on the tire swing in the front yard |

The dark floral of this dress (Cynthia Rowley, $7.99, retail $200+) screams fall. |

This sweater. Cashmere. Need I say more?

Aldo. 'Nuff said. |

Love, love, love these booties. Surprisingly comfy despite the height. Dolce Vita, $14.99, like new? Yes, thank you! |

Do you have favorite summer to fall transitional outfit tricks? We'd love to hear them!
